A goddess of love, beauty… and reinvention. Her new album ‘Aphrodite’ is the latest in a long line of great successes, and an enticing taste of things to come during the next highly anticipated Kylie world tour. Despite all her achievements, Kylie Minogue is praised by all for her kindness and generosity of spirit, which we were pleased to experience first-hand as The New Yooxer met her for an exclusive interview. We set out to discover her precious style secrets and to find out which fashion favorites she added to her very own Dream Box.

What’s your style about and how does it match with your music?
Hah…not easy! I guess my style is experimental, which is reflected in my music. I’m always curious to try something new and through these efforts, hopefully come up with something great. They both require a certain amount of risk, but this is fun when the foundations are strong. It’s like having your safe, capsule wardrobe and then adding your own signature to that. Luckily for me I get to play in the ‘Dress-up Box’ a LOT!!! Hahaa!
High heels vs flats.
God, the world would stop spinning if we had to choose one or the other. I am a high heel addict. In fact I call myself a high heel stunt woman, as I’ve done the most ridiculous things in heels…balancing on all sorts of props and stages etc. LOVE them, love the look they give to the leg…but, have to admit I love a ballet flat to race around town.
You called your latest album Aphrodite, was that as a reference to the Greek Goddess of beauty?
The song ‘Aphrodite’ was written for me by the amazing Nerina Pallot and yes, it was in reference to the Greek Goddess of love, beauty and sexuality. It wasn’t necessarily the concept for the album, but as I progressed, a celestial, other worldly theme started to develop. Songs such as ‘Cupid Boy’ and ‘Looking For An Angel’ for example.
Can you disclose something about your upcoming tour?
It’s called ‘Aphrodite – Les Folies’ and we intend to make it another ‘Spectacular’! We work really hard to create an experience that takes you away. There will be amazing musicians, a troupe of dancers including some specialists, ethereal musical loveliness mixed with heavy beats, fierce fantasy and fun. And of course the unexpected! By nature of its very being a concert is a magical experience for everyone – all that shared energy, history and excitement.
What’s on your iPod?
All sorts! On high rotation, it’s been ‘Jonsi’ and his album ‘Go’. It is so truly special, sublime avant-garde pop. Intensely emotional and ultimately so uplifting you just want more!

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Trust your instincts.
Where do you feel most at home?
Because of my lifestyle, I’ve become quite good at calling numerous places home. I like to think my roots are in Australia, branches are British/European and my leaves are the future…. Ahh, the excitement of that which we do not know!!
