Munich’s International Design Museum is hosting an exhibition curated by Alessandro Mendini, which looks back on Alessi’s iconic designs as well as their collaborations with new generations. An invigorating journey from the pioneers to the legends where the Tea and Coffee Towers of the early 80s, sorts of miniature architectural models, stand next to the bestsellers and the historical projects due to go back into production. Ordinary objects made extraordinary by their experimental and playful style, designed by masters such as Ettore Sottsass and Aldo Rossi, alongside Michael Graves and the ever-so irreverent Philippe Starck; everyday objects such as the Juicy Salif lemon-squeezer, whose innovative style turns them into true conversation pieces.

Photographs and drawings, advertising campaigns and portraits highlight the inventiveness of Italian design and its international appeal. They also offer a starting point for a further reflection on eco-friendly themes, such as recycling and the simplicity of production.
