Inside giulianoFujiwara

main011

The style of giulianoFujiwara represents the perfect synthesis between the Japanese aesthetic and Italian craftsmanship. It’s a collection created with the modern samurai in mind, explains the label’s Creative Director Masataka Matsumura in an exclusive video interview with The New Yooxer.

The Fujiwara Design Studio was established in Milan during the second half of the 1980s, out of the founder Yoshiaki Fujiwara’s desire to unite the distinctive cultures, traditions and technologies of Italy and Japan. He created refined menswear collections, whose structured cuts and folds managed to define a precise and rigorously geometric silhouette. After the designer’s passing in 2005, the new Creative Director Masataka Matsumura deftly adopted the “Wabi-sabi” philosophy of the label: the beauty of imperfection.
