Pixie Lott

Pixie Lott

At just eighteen, her rockstar status is already solidly confirmed: her first single “Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)” was released on June 8, 2009 and immediately hit the number one slot on the UK Singles Chart. Together with her rising musical career, designers from Moschino to Karl Lagerfield have been charmed by her quirky, fresh style. Everyone’s crazy for Pixie!

What would you suggest your music for? Relaxing, enjoying, partying?
There is a song for every occasion….Relaxing – Hold Me In Your Arms, Enjoying – Gravity, Partying – Here We Go Again
What’s your style about and how does it match with your music?
They both reflect my personality,  quirky and fun but sometimes more mature.  I like to mix classic and vintage stuff with contemporary and designers.  My two fashion icons are Edie Sedgwick and Brigitte Bardot.
You collaborate with many brands such as Moschino or Karl Lagerfeld. What does it mean to you being a FASHION ICON?
I have always loved fashion and its been so amazing having support from such fantastic designers.

Do you consider yourself a model for young people? What would you like to say to the world about you?
I just want to stay a real 18 year old girl and not change from how I was before I was in the public eye.  Not try to do anything crazy or pretend to be squeaky clean just you know, give a good example but not be afraid to make minor mistakes that teenagers learn from.  I also believe in young people striving for what they want to do, not be afraid to speak out, to live the life they want and be positive.
Do you like shopping online?
I think shopping online is great especially for people who are so busy and do not have the time to go to the shops.  It’s so easy to browse and buy.. I can spend ages on one site!
If you wouldn’t become a pop star what would you have instead?
I would still have to be entertaining in some way… acting or dancing.. definitely still performing!

Bio
Born with name Victoria Louise on the 12th of January 1991, the young rocker “Pixie” Lott – whose single has sold over 50,000 copies, occupying first place for the best-selling singles of 2009—has been called by Britain’s Daily Mail “The Princess of Pop” and is considered the UK’s answer to Lady Gaga. Her mischievous, extroverted personality earned her the nickname “Pixie” as a child, and it’s stuck with her ever since. Like many children, she first began to sing in the church choir and her talent was immediately evident. At the age of five she attended the Italia Conti Associate Saturday School in Chislehurst and then the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. While still a student, she made her West End debut with a part in the musical “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, inspired by the 1968 film, at London’s Palladium Theatre. During that time, she made her television debut on BBC One in a made-for-TV version of “The Sound of Music”, in which she played the role Luisa von Trapp. In 2005, at just 14 years old, she was chosen to be part of the choir for the recording on Roger Waters’ opera “Ça Ira”.
She was finally “discovered” when the singer-songwriter and co-founder of the recording company LaFace Records L.A. Reid listened to her demo tape. In 2006, when Pixie was fifteen years old, he signed her with the UK’s Mercury Records and Interscope Records in the US.  Not only has Pixie reached the top positions in the singles’ charts, but captured the attention of designers like Dolce & Gabbana , for whom Pixie performed at the end of their most recent fashion show, Karl Lagerfeld, who invited her to be the guest of honor at the Fendi show, and Moschino, for whom Pixie has personalized a special edition T-shirt. She’s been popping up in magazines everywhere, from high-end fashion to teen-pop, and now she sits down with The New Yooxer to reveal the secret to her inimitable Pixie-style.
