Echo & the Bunnymen

The band Echo & the Bunnymen formed in 1978, slightly more than thirty years ago, but their strong and powerful rock sound has remained the same and still thrills young generations today. Their latest album “The Fountain” will be released in November: aggressive, vibrant and reminiscent of David Bowie. Here Echo & the Bunnymen reveal their look to The New Yooxer.
Younger generations first heard Echo & the Bunnymen in the movie Donnie Darko. Their 1984 single “Killing Moon” is part of the film’s compelling soundtrack. Eighties fans surely remember legendary albums such as “Heaven Up Here” (1981), included in The RS 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, and “Ocean Rains” (1984). Echo & the Bunnymen formed in that magic music moment between the Seventies and the Eighties, which marked the birth of celebrated bands and musicians such as The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, The Clash and David Bowie. Their new album, produced by John McLaughlin, has been described as “devilish and religious” with the distinctive voice of Ian McCulloch, the band’s frontman, and Will Sergeant’s guitar. Its energetic sound is ready to make you dance.

Between the Seventies and the Eighties, not only did music change, but fashion did too, leaving behind glam glitter and moving towards a darker, slightly existentialist style – like the Dream Box created by Echo & the Bunnymen.
