Mediterranean Dawn - Marriage Italian Style

Apulia’s artisanal traditions took center stage at “Alba Mediterranea” (Mediterranean Dawn), an event organized by Giorgio Correggiari, maestro and mentor to designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Frida Giannini and Riccardo Tisci, with the collaboration of Vogue Sposa and support from the regional government of Apulia. The stars of the show were wedding gowns crafted by the most talented Apulian ateliers, three of which are available exclusively at yoox.com, an event within an event putting the spotlight on Made in Italy.
Set in the atmospheric Piazza del Castello in Conversano in the province of Bari, the wedding gown fashion show was by no means traditional: a 3D video projection of the most stunning photo images taken from Vogue Sposa’s special issue devoted entirely to Apulia. The walls of the castle and the other buildings surrounding the piazza were transformed into a virtual theater with photos, spectacular images and symbols illustrating the region’s history, the beauty of its landscape, colors and artisanal heritage with a special appearance made by the September YOOXCOVER dedicated to the figure of the bride. The event culminated with a real surprise wedding: a bride donning a design by Giovanna Sbiroli, a historic Apulian atelier, arrived in a carriage with her prince charming waiting for her. Like a fairy-tale, they met up midway and were married before the mayor of Conversano.
