Roisin Murphy

Style icon and musical talent whose intense, sophisticated voice has charmed worldwide audiences, the Irish singer Roisin Murphy gives Diane Pernet an exclusive interview in the New Yooxer.

After a successful debut with Moloko and the period of performing together, in 2005 Roisin Murphy began a personal project.
A mix of musical genres and vocal feats, “Ruby Blue” was her first solo album, created together with the eclectic Matthew Herbert. It was a complete break from her previous work with Moloko: disco-pop, soul and electro-jazz mixed with sound effects for a sensual, cheerful, and sometimes bizarre atmosphere.
The influences of her second album, “Overpowered” range from house to disco to soul. It’s a refined mélange with a strong inclination towards electronic beats, and confirms Roisin Murphy as one of today’s most talented artists from the electro-pop scene. Adored by designers, the stylish Roisin tells The New Yooxer how music and fashion live in harmony.
