ONCE UPON A TIME… A forest behind the red door

On the occasion of its 9th Anniversary, a special photography exhibition reveals the hidden side of YOOX, as well as its world “view”: in celebration of the event, YOOX has asked its own photographers to explore their imageries and to recount their own stories through photography.
The result, “ONCE UPON A TIME… A forest beyond the red door”, is a photographic journey of intimate stories and surreal visions that wind through the suggestive location of Villa Impero, in the Bolognese hillside. The exhibition, curated by Gianluca Marziani, highlights the creativity of YOOX’s team of young photographers, their ability to give shape to unfamiliar visions and interpret their own realities through this art.
Gianluca Marziani, interviewed by YOOX in the forest that hosts the exhibition, explains and accompanies us on this journey, revealing the secrets held by each and every photograph.

The theme of the exhibition comes from ‘Once upon a time…’, a way of getting photographers to recount the world that can only be explored once the threshold of the imaginary “red door” has been crossed. It is the photographs themselves that illustrate what worlds exist beyond this red door; each world is a unique discovery into somebody’s intimate and unique perspective. Behind the red door some photographers show a body, some a window, some a forest.
