Planet Funk

Seven years of constant musical experimentation. Three albums, each entirely different from the next, but with significant elements in common: “Non Zero Sumness”, “The Illogical Consequence” and “Static”, propose varied declinations of the unique Planet Funk style - a mix of rock, pop, electronica and dance.

2009 marks the return of Planet Funk with their much-awaited greatest hits album. Dan Black’s voice accompanies the band in the three previously-unreleased tracks: “Lemonade”, “Too Much Tv”, and “PaperFeathers”. The English singer, with his unmistakable rythmic voice, comes back to unite with the Italo-British band.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH PLANET FUNK

1. Italy vs. England?

Italy spoils you. For us four Italians, it’s hard to be away from this beautiful country. In this moment of global crisis, even music reflects this negative wave. From this point of view, England is more solid: in a city like London, which has seen the birth and rise of the music industry, new projects are always popping up. There’s always a fresh breath of air.

2. Over the years, your sound has always been characterized by electronic sound mixed with other musical genres. And in the future?

We’ll travel around the world to transform everything that excites us into sound. Like now, our future music will be good to dance to, with the right combination of melodic and psychedelic atmosphere.

3. Music and the Internet?

Today, music can’t survive without the Internet. It’s a great place for promotion, and if a track is strong it’ll travel quickly over the web. For musicians, it’s definitely a necessary tool for work.

4. Your relationship with fashion?

It’s a strange one. We don’t follow fashion; we try to have our own identity and our own style.
