CARMINA CAMPUS – 100% MADE IN AFRICA | FW 2011 COLLECTION

Not charity, just work is not only embroidered on the shopper, but constitutes the basis of this ethical fashion project , brainchild of the International Trade Centre, a joint UN and WTO agency which creates sustainable employment in African countries. A cause that Carmina Campus has supported for many a season by way of the 100% Made In Africa collections. Ilaria Venturini Fendi, founder of the brand, shared her experience with The New Yooxer through her very own travel reportage.

SHOP THE 100% MADE IN AFRICA COLLECTION

In 2006 Carmina Campus established itself firmly on the fashion scene as a creative project based on the use of salvaged materials. From the fusion of environmental awareness and an interest in the social aspects of production are born accessories, jewelry and furnishings.
A philosophy above all of recycling and handmade pieces, but also particular attention to detail and quality, is the fil rouge of Ilaria Venturini Fendi’s professional background.

The bags of the 100% Made In Africa winter collection are the fruits of a fair labor of the artisanal communities of Kenya. Each piece, from clutches to travel bags, from shoppers to pochettes, is made from salvaged materials: fabric from old army covers, nylon from tents and leather from samples. Lined and reversible, embroidered and printed, these bags are a constant reminder of change and renewal.
