Cortina d’Ampezzo is known as the ‘Pearl of the Dolomites,’ and it’s not hard to guess why. Embedded in between Veneto’s beautiful beveled mountains, Cortina enchants its visitors with breathtaking views and its fresh air. In winter, when a mix of the international jet-set and celebrity crowd its white ski slopes, finding a spot in one of its elite chalets and renowned restaurants is almost impossible. In summer, its endless lawns flourish and Cortina becomes a haven for open air sports lovers.
If you are looking for a place to escape from the August heat, head towards Cortina to enjoy a weekend of delightful walks around the Monte Cristallo with groundhogs and Alpine Stars. For the perfect look, get inspired by the movie ‘The Sound of Music’: Bermuda shorts or a mid-length green leather skirt will be practical yet chic for beautiful female hikers. Try an A-line style like this Y’S Yohji Yamamoto, paired with a Tyrolean jacket and some vintage style lace-ups.
Men should revisit the big classics: corduroy pants (possibly rolled up to the calf showing red toned socks), a checked shirt, like this one by Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren, and some beige or brown suede ankle boots. Complete your look with mirrored sunglasses like the ones used by real mountain climbers and a pair of binoculars. A backpack for all your essentials is a must, but always remember to go for one that has a stylish twist!
